Farndon Wildlife

The village is fortunate to have an extensive area of green space between the residential part and the River Trent.  Some of this green space is in the ownership of the parish council, some managed by Notts Wildlife Trust, and some in private ownership.  

The Willow Holt is one of the Notts Wildlife Trust Nature Reserves and can be accessed either from Wyke Lane, or from the car park at the side of the Riverside Pub.  A link to the Trust's webpage is below:

The Parish Council own the picnic area that is located between the Farndon Boathouse and the Newark Sea Scouts, and goes behind North End up towards the Marina.  

A walk through the clapper gates and over the Farndon Marina bridge, will bring you to Farndon Ponds, a nature reserve that is owned and managed by the Parish Council.   

These areas attract a great deal of birds, insects and butterflies and two of our residents, Paul Dachtler and Andy Richmond, do a splendid job of capturing them as they visit and go about their daily routine.
